Barely twelve days after his release from the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional Facility, 18-year-old Buhari Deyegu has been arrested again by operatives of the Eagle-Net Special Squad of the Delta State Police Command.
Deyegu, who resides along Ibusa Road, Asaba, was apprehended on August 11 alongside one Precious Okoro, 27, of Ulo Street, Asaba.
The arrest followed a distress call over a missing motorcycle, with the operatives assisted by members of the Nigeria Hunters Security Services (NHSS).
Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, who confirmed the arrest on Tuesday, said Deyegu is an ex-convict who had just completed a two-year jail term for stealing a motorcycle.
He was released from the Ogwashi-Uku facility on August 6, 2025.
“Shockingly, the suspect went back to steal another motorcycle just five days after returning from prison,” Edafe stated.
A search at his residence led to the recovery of a Tiger generator, a big Fireman generator, and an iron measuring scale. Deyegu remains in custody as investigations continue.
In a related development, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) arrested 39-year-old Bassey Udoh of Custom Market, Asaba, during a stop-and-search operation along DBS Road on August 16.
According to Edafe, Udoh’s suspicious behaviour prompted officers to search his cross bag, where an English Beretta pistol was recovered.
“Preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect is part of a burglary syndicate that usually breaks into homes to cart away valuables. He confessed to purchasing the pistol for ₦30,000. The suspect is in custody and investigation is ongoing,” he added.
