The Department of State Services (DSS) has now confirmed that the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Godwin Emefiele, is in its custody.
Recall that the secret police had on Saturday morning denied the arrest of Emefiele saying in a terse statement on its official Twitter handle that “Currently, Emefiele is not with the DSS.”
Hours later on Saturday the DSS through its image-maker, Peter Afunanya, confirmed that it has taken into custody the suspended CBN Governor.
“The Department of State Services (DSS) hereby confirms that Mr Godwin Emefiele, the suspended Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) is now in its custody for some investigative reasons.
“The public, particularly the Media, is enjoined to apply utmost caution in the reportage and narratives concerning this.,” said the DSS in its updated statement.
