Police operatives attached to the Safe Delta Tactical Squad deployed to the head-bridge between Delta and Anambra States have intercepted a driver with one thousand, one hundred and twenty-four rounds of live cartridges.
The driver of the Toyota Hiace bus with reg. no FGG 645 ZV, Innocent Uboh, a native of Ogume community in Ndokwa West Local Government Area of Delta State was arrested on Thursday, June 2, 2022, during a stop and search duty by the Command’s operatives at the head-bridge.
The spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, in a statement on Friday said the driver who was the only occupant of the vehicle claimed the cartridges belonged to a man named Monday Adibeli, aged 61 years in Ogume.
“On the strength of this information, Operatives were deployed to Ogume where the alleged owner of the cartridges was arrested,” said the police image-maker.
During a search of the vehicle, twenty bottles of codeine and other illicit drugs were recovered.
Also, a crack surveillance operatives of the Command on Wednesday, June 1, 2022, raided a criminal hideout at Okwagbe community in Isoko North Local Government Area of the state during which “three suspects namely; Alex Johnholt ‘m’ age 32yrs, Abe Ujiro ‘f’ age 25yrs, Omoro Joy ‘f’ age 26yrs were arrested, One hundred and five {105} wraps of SK weeds, six {6} wraps of loud, sixteen {16} wraps of substance suspected to be cocaine, four {4} wraps of Indian hemp, four {4} litres of monkey tail, sixty {60} packs of razlers, one Indian hemp grinding device were recovered from them”.
The suspects according to the police statement will be arraigned in court as soon as investigation is concluded.
On the same day, Wednesday, June 1, 2022, police operatives attached to the Bomadi Divisional Patrol team while on routine stop and search duty along Bomadi/Oboro road, intercepted a motorcycle rider carrying three passengers.
When the team subjected them to a search one English Pistol was recovered from one of the passengers named Destiny Ebibo, aged 22 years of Oboro Community but stays in Abraka.
One red beret suspected to be of the Icelander’s confraternity was also recovered from the other suspect named George Terrence, aged 22 years of Okpokunou Community.
They subsequently have taken into custody and investigation is ongoing.
