Hon. Jude Ochuko Adjekpogu, representing Ward 5 in the Ethiope East Local Government Legislative Arm in Delta State is presently battling for his life following gunshots fired at him by suspected kidnappers on the busy Eku-Abraka road in the state.
OASISMAGAZINE reports that Adjekpogu was on Saturday, December 4, 2021, admitted into an undisclosed private hospital, after he was hit by bullets fired at him while driving in his car by the kidnappers suspected to be Fulani herdsmen.
Sources say the Ward 5 Councillor was seriously wounded in the attack which took place at a blockage mounted by the kidnappers on the Eku-Abraka road at about 5:30pm.
In a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria, Chairman, Ethiope East Local Government, Hon Victor Ofobrukueta, confirmed the development saying financial support is highly needed for Hon Adjekpogu to survive considering the huge hospital bills already accumulated.
When contacted, Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Delta State Command, DSP Bright Edafe, could not confirm the development saying he was unaware of the incident.
A security expert however told NewsNet Nigeria on condition of anonymity that from his experience the incident may not have been formally reported at a police station.
