Two federal hunters, Okogbe Ochuko and Isaiah Johnson have regained their freedom from the Nigerian Correctional Services (NCS) in Okere Community, Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.
This is coming as the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Diai in her 4th quarter visit to the prison today.
The Department of Public Prosecutions had before the Chief Judge said the duo were accused of armed robbery and had no case to answer and on that ground, the judge granted them bail.
In a chat with Our Correspondent, Okogbe Ochuko and Isaiah Johnson, said they were brought to the prison in August 2023 for alleged armed robbery in the area where they were on guard duty in Ughelli, Ughelli North Local Government Area.
They noted that they were not armed robbers but officials of the Federal hunters and thanked God Almighty for their freedom from prison.
For Ochuko, he said, “The youths should know God. I thank the Correctional Service where they brought me. I learnt so many things”.
Narrating how the incident occurred, Johnson said himself and his colleague engaged the armed robbers who came to the area to operate where they worked the very night.
He said they had three bullets and during the shoot out, he sustained serious gunshot wounds in his right hand, which he showed DAILY POST Correspondent.
According to him, the hand no longer functions properly since the incident.
Johnson said he was surprised when the matter was turned against them by resident of the area where they guarded that the armed robbers came to operate at the time they were on patrol.
He expressed happiness for his freedom and enjoined Nigerians to be good stressing that their good will definitely speak for them.
