The decomposing body of Ovoke Edevwie Ogwa, who was abducted by unknown gunmen at Urhuovie-Abraka in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State, on January 10, 2022, has been found.

It was gathered that Ogwa’s lifeless body was found in the bush by some locals who went fetching firewood on Tuesday, February 1, 2022.

In a phone chat with NewsNet Nigeria, Special Assistant on Youth Development to the Delta State Governor, Tony Ajaino, said, “He was kidnapped on the 10th of January and on the 12th they paid ramson of N500,000.

“Then at the end of the day, they lost communication with the kidnappers on the day the ramson was paid.

“Since we have been searching but yesterday (Tuesday) in the afternoon some people who went fetching firewood were smelling something. Sometimes when they are in the bush they feel that may be an animal that has been shot; so they were just searching for what was smelling and they got to where he was.

“So, we had to mobilise the police and everybody to recover the body.”

The deceased who was a popular plumber in Abraka left behind a pregnant wife and children.

When contacted, the spokesperson for the Delta State Police Command, DSP Bright Edafe, confirmed the development to NewsNet Nigeria but, added that he was yet to get the details.
