Rival cultists had to resort to setting ablaze a middle-aged suspected cultist identified as Victor after bullets and machete failed to harm him.
According to The Nation, the incident occurred around Akede area of Osogbo, the Osun State capital.
A resident in the area said that Victor was chased to the area and was shot repeatedly but the bullet did not penetrate.
“He was hacked by rivalry cult members but the machete did not have any effect on his body.
“The cultists poured petrol on him and set him ablaze.
“Some of us rushed at him to extinguish the fire but he was greatly burnt.
“He was taken to hospital and the police were aware. He did not die but severely burnt.”
The spokesperson for the Osun State Police Command, SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident on Sunday.
Opalola said, “The perpetrators will be arrested as our men have commenced investigation into the matter.”
