Court orders IGP Adamu, six others to produce Delta community leader, Andrew

A Delta State High Court has ordered the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Abubakar Mohammed Adamu and others to produce the leader in Ekpan Community in Uvwie Local Government Area, Mr. Sheriff Andrew in Court on the 25th of September, 2020.

Other respondents who alsi ordered in the matter include, DIG. Anthony Ogbizi Michael, FCIID Abuja, AIG Dibal Yakadi, Zone 5 Benin-City, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa, Commissioner of Police, Delta State, DCP Abba Kyari,IRT, SP Asanenyi Ibok, Divisional Police, Ekpan and Insp. Vincent ,team/unit leader,IRT.

The Court which is presided over by a Vacation Judge for Delta South Senatorial District, Hon. Justice V.O Agboje(Mrs.) handed down the order September 22.

“The Application ex-parte succeeds in part. Leave is granted for this Suit to be heard during Court’s annual vacation period.

“An order for the production of the Applicant, Mr. Sheriff Andrew is hereby made. The 1st to the 7th respondents are ordered to produce Mr. Sheriff Andrew in Court on the next adjourned date. Suit is adjourned to 25th September ,2020.”

A human right lawyer in Warri, Delta State, Mr. Preseley Okojie Esq had sued the IGP and the six others over the enforcement of the fundamental human rights of his client, Mr. Sheriff Andrew who was arrested by officers of the IRT Section of FCIID Abuja since 27th day of August, 2020 over an undisclosed offence.

The community leader was denied access to his family members and lawyer hence the Application was made on his behalf .
