The Delta State Police Command on Monday evening said it was not true that ex-Super Eagles midfielder, Christain Obodo was kidnapped as reported in the media.
In a phone chat with NewsNet, the State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya said, “He(Obodo) wasn’t really kidnapped; it was more of a robbery matter.
“They(robbers) took him, use him to go and withdraw money with his ATM, then collected his phone and let him go that same yesterday(Sunday).
“It is not as if they took him anywhere,” said the State Police image-maker.
The Nigeria ex- International, Christian Obodo was on Sunday reportedly kidnapped along the popular Refinery Road near Warri in Delta state by unknown gunmen.
