Angry mob on Wednesday set two suspected armed robbers ablaze at the Refinery junction in Uvwie Local Government Area of Delta Delta State.
NewsNet gathered that one of the suspects managed to escape from the scene.
It was learnt that the suspects allegedly shot and wounded a teacher working with the Army Day Secondary School, Effurun.
They(suspects) snatched and carted away the handbags containing about two hundred thousand naira from the teacher Opposite Jowil by Okoloba junction.
The wounded teacher is currently receiving medical treatments at the Central Hospital in Warri.
The deceased suspects it was learnt also went in a commercial tricycle to a drinking spot near the Ekpan Police Station, asked everyone to lie down just as they robbed and dispossessed them of their mobile phones and other personal effects.
From there, they were chased down to the Refinery junction, where they were apprehended and seriously beaten before they were set ablaze by the mob.
At the time of filing this report, there were no guns at the scene of the incident.
The Delta State Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Onome Onovwakpoyeya was called for confirmation of the report but for the ban on Police activities by the Delta State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Our Correspondent was unable to report the angle of the Police.
The PPRO is yet to get back to Our Correspondent.
The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Mohammed Hafiz Inuwa in a text message promised to confirm the report and get back to Our Correspondent as well.
It would be recalled that the NUJ threatened to sanction any member who flout its order because a Vanguard Correspondent, Mr Akpokona Omafuaire Esq was assaulted by Policemen at Ovwian/Aladja Division in the heat of the #ENDSARS# protests.
