A High Court of Justice in Delta State, Ekpan Judicial Division, has ordered that the legally constituted Ekpan Development Committee, EDC headed Mr Stephen Akemu should return to office pending the determination of the suit brought against the Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Mr Ramson Onoyake and 31 others over the illegal dissolution of the Committee.

This was contained in an interim order dated Thursday, December 2, 2021, and signed by the judge of Ekpan High court, Justice Mrs P.O. Onajife Kuejubola.

Justice Kuejubola ordered that all parties should maintain the status quo pending the determination of the suit owing to the peculiar nature of the case.

Consequently, she adjourned the suit to 20th January 2022.

It would be recalled that on October 26, 2021, the Traditional Council of Chiefs, Eche R’Oriokpor in Uvwie Local Government Area and some members of Ekpan Development Committee (EDC) dragged the Uvwie Council Chairman, Mr Ramson Onoyake and 31 others before Ekpan High court over the illegal dissolution of the EDC which was constituted by the traditional council, praying that their action should be declared null and void as well as payment of N200m as damages.

The suit was filed by Chief Robert Ejifoma and Chief Eyimofe Akemu on behalf of Eche R’Oriokpor, Mr Steven Akemu and Miss Lilian Uruesheyi for EDC.

It was jubilation in Ekpan at the weekend following the court order that Mr Stephen Akemu should return to office pending the determination of the suit brought against the Uvwie Local Government Chairman, Mr Ramson Onoyake and 31 others over the illegal dissolution of the EDC EXCO.
