Fellow of the Nigerian Guild of Editors and Professor of Journalism and Mass Communication, Prof Raph Akinfeleye will be the Chief Trainer at the second edition of Delta State Strategic Communication Workshop organised by the Office of the Executive Assistant (Communications) to the Governor in conjunction with the Office of the Secretary to the State Government.
Prof Akinfeleye, a former head of department of Mass Communication, is the arrowhead that led the department of Mass Communication of the University of Lagos, to attain UNESCO rating as one of the ten centres of Excellence in media training in Africa and the only one in Nigeria.
Executive Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe Esq in a statement on Friday said Akinfeleye is the Nigerian elected first African member of the World Journalism Education Council with vast professional experience in training and mentoring of Journalists, practising their craft in conventional and new media spaces locally and internationally.
He is a graduate of the world first school of Journalism at the University of Missouri, Columbia, Missouri, USA; a communication specialist and consultant to WHO, UNFPA, UNESCO, UNIFEM, UNDP, UNICEF, to mention a few.
“Prof Akinfeleye shall duel on critical aspects of modern-day Journalism especially creative writing skills development, ethical issues in Media Crisis Management and Public Relations practice.
“He continues to add values to the pedagogical purity of Public Relations in Africa, a Senior Fellow of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations.
“The erudite Professor is the Chairman of the Centre of Excellence in Multimedia and Cinematography/Unilag Radio 103.1 FM and Television.
“The EACGOVDELTA 2020 Communication Workshop is scheduled to hold from 8 -10th December, at Orchid Hotel in Asaba, Delta State capital.
“Prof Akinfeleye will be assisted by other top-class trainers to be disclosed soon,” Oghenesivbe assured.
