Leading chairmanship aspirant for Ughelli North Local Government Council in Delta State, Rotarian Fidelis Adjogbe congratulated Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for winning the Silverbird Group Governor of the Year 2023 in recognition of his sterling accomplishments in the state.
Delta Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, on behalf of Governor Oborevwori, received the Silverbird Group award presented by former Governor of Ogun State, Chief Olusegun Osoba, on Sunday night in Lagos.
Adjogbe, a former Senior Special Assistant on Political Matters to the immediate past governor of Delta State who has continued to endear himself to the people of Ughelli North through his philanthropy and grassroots politics in his congratulatory message on Monday noted the award by the Silverbird Group did not come as surprise considering the diligent and impactful driven approach by Governor Oborevwori to the development needs of Deltans and Delta State.
“The exemplary leadership style of His Excellency, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori for the past nine months in the saddle shows clearly that he is someone who was prepared for the leadership of Delta State.
“Governor has endeared himself to all Deltans with the sustenance of the development initiatives of his predecessor, Senator (Dr) Ifeanyi Okowa, and if you go round the state you will see that several projects are actually on a fast lane to completion.
“His Excellency, Rt Hon Oborevwori has also in nine months embarked on the execution of people-oriented projects which include notably the construction of N78 billion road and flyover projects in Uvwie and Warri awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria PLC,” said Adjogbe.
Adjogbe, who joined well-meaning Deltans and lovers of development to congratulate Governor Oborevwori for bagging the Silverbird Governor of the Year 2023 award noted that the Governor has continued to demonstrate that he is a governor for all Deltans.
The front-line chairmanship hopeful for Ughelli North Local Government Council expressed optimism the award will spur the Governor to remain focused on his promise and commitment to leave behind enduring legacies as the third Urhobo man to govern Delta State.
“I pray for God’s grace and mercy to continue to abide with the Governor and his family and above all for God’s wisdom to enable him to carry on with the onerous but fulfilling duty of advancing Delta State with his administration’s MORE Agenda,” Adjogbe prayed.
Governor Oborevwori’s deputy, Sir Onyeme, had on Sunday while receiving the award said: “We are very grateful to Senator Ben Murray Bruce and the entire management of Silverbird Group for this great honour. Little did we know that our modest achievements within the nine months we have been in office have been noticed.
“We came to serve Delta, and we are doing just that. In line with our MORE agenda, faculties have been built and commissioned, road infrastructure and bridges have been commissioned, and a lot more are ongoing. We have ensured we have qualified teachers in our primary schools.
“In less than nine months, the government has hired over 3,000 teaching and non-teaching staff to ensure that our primary schools are running. We want to assure Deltans that all nooks and crannies in the state shall be provided with quality infrastructures.
“We want to thank Deltans for all the cooperation they give us and the peace they provide. Delta is becoming an investment destination for Nigerians and foreigners alike. We will not get tired, and we will continue to do MORE because that is the mandate.
“In the next three or four years, we are going to see that education becomes better, more effective and easily accessible. We want to see a Delta State where peace will reign supreme. Industrialisation will be the order of the day. That is the vision!”
