As Delta State marked its 34th anniversary, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, has called on citizens to harness the state’s diversity and collective strengths to drive sustained development, peace, and prosperity.
In a goodwill message issued through his Chief Press Secretary, Nkem Nwaeke, Guwor noted that while much has been achieved in the last 34 years, more work remains to fully realise the goals of the state’s founding fathers.
The Speaker, who represents Warri South-West Constituency and serves as National Treasurer of the Conference of Speakers of State Legislatures in Nigeria, pledged that the Assembly under his leadership would remain committed to serving the people.
He described the anniversary as a celebration of resilience, determination, and collective progress, commending past administrations for their contributions to the unity and growth of the state.
“To the noble sons and daughters of Delta State, I rejoice with you on this momentous occasion of our state’s 34th anniversary.
“As we mark this milestone, let us reflect on our journey so far, acknowledging the strides we have made and the challenges we have overcome,” Guwor said.
The Speaker lauded Governor Sheriff Oborevwori as a “focused, vibrant and visionary leader”, noting his efforts in safeguarding lives and property and in driving infrastructural transformation across the state.
He urged all Deltans, at home and abroad, to sustain the spirit of unity and commitment to building a prosperous and peaceful state, adding: “Let us continue to work together, leveraging our diversity and strengths to drive growth and development.”
Guwor prayed for continued peace, prosperity, and happiness for Delta State as it enters a new phase of progress.
