Open letter to the Governor-elect, Elder Sheriff Oborevwori

Your Excellency, it is a thing of joy that after this great battle (contest) God gave our party victory and today you are the governor-elect for delta state, congratulations to you sir.

As a governor chosen by the people through the will of God, I have no doubt that you will be a governor for the people. My persuasion is as a result of the fact that men who were lifted by grace always lead well like David who became the king of Israel and Joseph who became the prime minister of Egypt. They were once oppressed and despised but they delivered true and sincere leadership to their people in the fear of God.

Making a difference in leadership is more about knowing or identifying the needs of the people & having the willingness to solve them. Democracy is all about the welfare and well-being of the people. May God grant you the grace to deliver in Jesus’ name.

Your Excellency, the responsibility of leading a multiethnic state like Delta is enormous because you got votes from every part to secure your victory but nevertheless, the same strength you sum up to canvass for votes during campaigns should be drawn once again as you plan to go round on a thank you tour.

One thing I expect you to do in addition as you plan to hit the ground running when you resume office, apart from who you intend to appoint as commissioner or head of govt agencies, one most important thing you also need to look into is (1) Care to know why the people voted you in each local govt council wards. (their major needs & expectations). This information can be duly gotten when you direct each ward to hold a town hall meeting to put their needs together as they want the government to attend to them. This information will boost your view and deepen your understanding of the people. (2) You may also care to know why some others voted against you so you can prove them wrong through good works by being a governor for all Deltans.

As a state that practices rotational governorship, I advise you to start with Delta Central requests because they have truly suffered enough and we can’t afford to ignore our pains in a God’s given season like this. I know you have good plans in your MORE agenda to build a greater Delta with fantastic infrastructures, empowerments schemes, human capital development, alleviating poverty by building industries to create jobs, skill acquisition programs/empowerment, grants for businesses, agricultural programs etc but never fail to have the hard copy of the people’s needs and requests from their various wards, this will help you to effectively meet the need and expectations of our people.

Delta will be glad to see you “Hit the ground running with their earnest expectations. I’m confident, you will deliver. Thanks and God bless you as always.

Long live your Excellency
