Deputy Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Arthur Akpowowo has reiterated the commitment of the 8th Assembly towards ensuring robust and People-oriented legislation.

The Deputy Speaker stated this in his office in Asaba, during an interface with a delegation of alumni of the University of Benin Law class 2004 who were in his office for a courtesy visit.

Receiving the delegation of his former coursemates at the University of Benin, UNIBEN, Rt. Hon Arthur Akpowowo said the State Legislature, led by the Speaker, Emomotimi Guwor is committed to its constitutional duties.

Akpowhowho explained that the House would always ensure robust legislation that would better the lives of Deltans in consonance with the M.O.R.E agenda of the State Governor, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori.

Apparently elated by the visit, the Deputy Speaker used the forum to appeal to Deltans to sustain their support for good governance in the state.

He stressed that indications are high that the State is in for a better time with the present leadership and people’s oriented policies and programmes.

Akpowowo said he is proud to be a product of the University of Benin and indeed to have gotten his law certificate from that institution.

According to him, whatever they are today is a function of where they are coming from, saying that he does not take the visit of his classmates for granted because it reminds him where and how it all began.

“I am proud to be a product of the University of Benin and, indeed to have gotten my law certificate from that institution.

“Whatever we are today is a function of where we are coming from. I do not take this visit for granted because it reminds me of where and how we began.

“Let me use this forum to reassure Deltans that here in the House of Assembly, particularly the 8th assembly, we are committed to ensuring robust and people-oriented legislation. That is our dream and our vision” Rt. Hon. Akpowowo posited.

The Deputy Speaker promised to remain a good ambassador of the class.

Earlier, the leader of the delegation, Chief Ositadinma Ofigeli told the Deputy Speaker that they were in his office to felicitate with him and congratulate him on his emergence as Deputy Speaker of the State Assembly.

The high point of the visit was the presentation of hand hand-made congratulatory card to the Deputy Speaker.
