History will be made on Saturday, November 15, 2025, in the ancient Olomu Kingdom as renowned legal luminary Olorogun Albert Akpomudje—Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Body of Benchers—is crowned the 14th Ohworode of Olomu.
Olorogun Akpomudje, who has served as Otota (Prime Minister) of the kingdom, will receive his coronation at Otorere, the ancestral headquarters of the great Olomu Kingdom.
The moment is a historic milestone for the Eyavwie Ruling House—comprising Oviri, Akperhe, Okpavuerhe, and Ophori—as Akpomudje becomes the first of its lineage to ascend the revered throne, which has endured for centuries.
For many who know His Royal Majesty, this coronation comes as no surprise—not merely because of the peace and broad acceptance surrounding the succession, but because of the distinguished, disciplined, and deeply spiritual character of the new monarch.
Like the biblical saying that “the path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter,” the journey of the 14th Ohworode reflects an ever-rising trajectory. As Chancellor of the Anglican Diocese of Ughelli and a respected lay leader, he continues a long tradition of faith-driven rulership: the 12th and 13th Ohworodes were also committed Anglicans. The 12th Ohworode, Ogbon Ogoni Oghor, was notably the only royal Canon in Africa.
Soft spoken yet powerfully articulate, the new Ohworode captivates audiences—whether in a courtroom or on the floor of the synod. His leadership is widely regarded as a blend of grace, intellect, devotion, and divine placement.
A flood of congratulatory messages has continued to trail the coronation of the “UNILAG starboy,” as admirers fondly call him. The people of Olomu are celebrating the emergence of a legal giant and dedicated Christian as their new king.
In the words of Bishop D. D. MiyereJesus, “You are lucky ooo, but you may not know ooo.” This time, however, the Olomu people know—they are indeed fortunate.
Welcome to the great ancient Olomu Kingdom, as we all witness and partake in this remarkable and historic celebration.
