Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr Onoriode Agofure, has affirmed the government’s resolve to effectively implement an enhanced Transport Data Scheme to improve the safety and security of commuters across the state.

This followed Agofure’s implementation of an innovative data management scheme for enhanced security and safety of passengers in the state.

Agofure stated that the M.O.R.E Agenda of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has introduced a comprehensive Transport Data Management Scheme, with bar codes, stickers, and identity cards for all commercial vehicle drivers plying the roads,

The Commissioner disclosed that there would be adequate sensitization and awareness campaigns through December designed for drivers, commuters and the general public to be acquainted with the new Transport Data Management Scheme.

Agofure stressed that the primary objective behind the initiative was to establish a robust data management system for Commercial Vehicles with improved tracking Mechanisms for all registered Drivers.

The Commissioner further added that the State Government was concerned about the safety of passengers, stressing that “for this reason, the introduction of the Bar Codes and Stickers would serve as a strategic measure to enhance passengers Safety, especially in cases of theft, robberies and unforeseen circumstances”.

Passengers have been enjoined to actively participate in the safety initiative, by scanning the Bar Codes before boarding tricycles (Keke) or commercial Vehicles.

Accordingly, passengers were charged to forward scanned Information to their loved ones to enable knowledge of real-time awareness of their whereabouts.

The Delta State Government has enjoined commercial vehicles and park operators, to key into the Scheme to ensure a symbiotic relationship with the Government.
