Former Executive Director of Projects at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Olorogun Samuel Adjogbe, PhD, FNSE, has applauded Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, for what he described as audacious leadership that is restoring hope to Deltans through sustained, high-quality road infrastructure development.
Adjogbe, a renowned engineer, praised the governor’s strategic focus on road construction as a foundation for economic growth, mobility, and public safety across the state.
“Governor Sheriff Oborevwori has demonstrated uncommon audacity in restoring hope to Deltans by placing quality infrastructure at the centre of governance. His approach shows a clear understanding that roads are not just about movement, but about economic growth, safety, and long-term development,” he said.
He particularly commended the Oborevwori administration for engaging Julius Berger Nigeria Limited, a globally recognised construction firm, to execute critical road and flyover projects across Delta State, noting that the choice reflects seriousness, foresight, technical prudence and long-term legacies.
“As an engineer who has supervised complex projects at the national level, I can say without hesitation that engaging Julius Berger Nigeria Limited reflects a deliberate commitment to global construction standards and durability. This is how public infrastructure should be delivered,” Adjogbe stated.
The former NDDC projects chief noted that the governor’s road infrastructure drive, which includes major flyovers and arterial road expansions in strategic urban centres, demonstrates responsible governance and effective utilisation of public funds.
“What stands out in this administration is the prudent use of public funds. Deltans can see that their resources are being channelled into projects that will stand the test of time, not short-term fixes that fail after a few rainy seasons,” he added.
Adjogbe further observed that the emphasis on quality execution, strict timelines, and competent contractors align with global best practices in public infrastructure delivery, reassuring citizens that state resources are being managed with accountability.
“The renewed focus on road infrastructure under Governor Oborevwori gives meaning to governance. It reassures citizens that their taxes and commonwealth are being invested with vision, competence, and accountability,” he said.
According to him, the administration’s insistence on world-class construction firms is a clear departure from mediocrity and signals a long-term development mindset.
“Infrastructure of this quality is not accidental; it is the result of intentional leadership. The governor’s insistence on world-class contractors sends a strong signal that mediocrity has no place in Delta State’s development journey,” Adjogbe concluded.
Governor Oborevwori’s infrastructure push forms a core part of his M.O.R.E. Agenda—Meaningful Development, Opportunities for All, Realistic Reforms, and Enhanced Peace and Security—which continues to receive commendation from professionals, community leaders, and development stakeholders across the state.
