“College of Health Technology Bill” passes first reading in Delta Assembly

A bill for a law to repeal the State School of Health Technology Law and enact the State College of Health Technology Bill 2020 has passed first reading on the floor of the Delta State House of Assembly.

The bill with the short title “College of Health Technology Bill”, is being sponsored by the Member Representing Warri South One Constituency, Hon Austin Uroye.

The lawmaker, Hon Austin Uroye is the Chairman, House Committee on Health had sought the leave of the House to bring in the bill.

The motion for the first reading was seconded by Hon Emomotimi Guwor, who represents Warri South-West Constituency in the House.

The second reading of the bill has been slated for Thursday 17th December 2020.

Meantime, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has nominated Mr Bright Abeke for appointment as a member of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC.

The name of the nominee was forwarded to the State House of Assembly for screening and possible confirmation.

The Governor in a letter to the House, read at Tuesday’s plenary by the Speaker, Rt Hon Sheriff Oborevwori, said Mr Abeke is being nominated following the demise of Hon Joyce Overah, saying that it has become necessary to fill in the vacancy created.

The Governor in the letter said the name is being forwarded to the House is in the exercise of the power conferred on him by section 7 subsection 1(a) of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission Law 2019, as amended.

The nominee has been asked to appear before the House on Wednesday, 9th December 2020 for screening.
