Every worker looks forward to a time he or she would bow out of service at the mandatory age or end of years of service.

That is how it has come to play for a veteran broadcaster with Delta Broadcasting Service, DBS, Warri, Mrs Ochuko Orogun, who on Tuesday, August 8, 2023, retired from Delta State Civil Service after 35 years of meritorious service.

In a show of respect and honour to Ochuko Orogun, the entire present and former staff of the Presentation Unit of Programmes Department, DBS Warri, which headed until her retirement organised a send-forth party at the Edjeba-Warri premises of the station.

The fun pact ceremony which also coincided with her birthday, attracted dignitaries from all walks of life who eulogized her for her for impacting positively on humanity over the years.

General Manager of DBS Warri, Pastor Malcolm Oteri, in his opening remarks at the send-forth party, said Mrs Ochuko Orogun is his favourite presenter and congratulated her for her meritorious service to the audience who tuned in to listen to her programmes.

While wishing her a bright future ahead, Pastor Oteri asked her to continue contributing towards the betterment of her juniors and the station and wished her well in the days ahead.

He commended the team spirit existing amongst the Presentation Unit staff, noting that such love is worthy of emulation.

Chairman of the occasion, Mrs Roseline Amioku, represented by an educationist, Mrs Esther Abrakata, said Mrs Orogun spent many years in service affecting lives positively.

Mrs Amioku, who also noted Mrs Ochuko Orogun’s command of the English Language, stated that she was also up to date with information and informed society immensely.

Others who spoke, including the Medical Director of Syracuse Hospital, Warri, Doctor Victor Oraegbu, Proprietress of Shammar Group of Schools, Ambassador Oyin Ikemefuna, some staff of DBS Warri and the celebrant’s children, paid glowing tributes to her.

The celebrant, Mrs Ochuko Orogun, flanked by her husband, Evangelist Eddy Orogun, appreciated all for the show of love and affection for her over the years.

The send-forth featured a drama by the Presenters depicting the behaviour of the celebrant, Mrs Ochuko Orogun, while on the job, citation of the celebrant, cutting of cake and presentation of gifts by different groups.
