By Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe

Leading 2023 governorship aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and Speaker, Delta State House of Assembly, Rt Hon Elder Sheriff Francis Oborevwori, has assured the good people of the state of better days ahead, as the State governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, intensify efforts to finish strong.

Mr Speaker gave the assurance on Sunday 1st May, at the Living Faith Church, while thanking God for His awesome grace upon his life and the Sheriffied family across the state, more particularly for the massive endorsements he received from party leaders, delegates, political pressure groups, youth and women groups during his consultation tour of the three senatorial districts.

He said it takes God’s inestimable love, uncommon grace, integrity and political pedigree to garner the kind of massive support he got from leaders of PDP, youth, women and people from all walks of life across the state, adding that his political opponents, including some jittery governorship aspirants, circulated fake news that he was not cleared by the South-South Governorship Aspirants Screening Committee chaired by the Governor of Bayelsa State, His Excellency, Senator Duoye Diri.

“I am here to testify to the goodness of God, and His awesome grace upon my life and the entire Sheriffied family across the state. Our God is good, all the time. I am humbled by His inestimable love for me and my political career.

“From the very day I declared my intention to run for the office of Governor, endorsements started pouring in from all directions, and I was also adopted as sole governorship candidate by my colleagues in the State House of Assembly, DTHA, Delta Political Vanguard, DPV, Urhobo People in Diaspora, leaders and delegates in the three senatorial districts under PDP, and several other groups.

“The grand finale of my political consultation was held last Sunday at Orerokpe in Okpe Local Government Area, and it turned out to be a political carnival of some sort, rated second to none since the creation of Delta State. The goodwill messages were indeed inspiring and I give God the glory that He truly deserved.

“Last Thursday was the screening of South-South governorship aspirants in Port Harcourt, and I was screened, the first aspirant from Delta to receive Provisional Clearance Certificate. I didn’t see the urgent need to release it to the public.

“Suddenly, fake news started flying on social media platforms that I was neither screened nor issued PDP provisional Clearance Certificate. My detractors did not stop there. They took additional steps by criminally forging several PDP provisional clearance certificates and shared same widely on social media platforms with the evil intention of denting my hard-earned reputation and integrity. It was that bad and shameful.

“This morning before coning to Church, I had to release my authentic PDP Provisional Clearance Certificate to the Sheriffied media team, and it was published and shared widely on social media platforms to shame my political detractors.

It is obvious that agents of my political opponents are bent on doing anything and everything to scheme me out of the governorship race because of my soaring popularity and perceived victory at the party gubernatorial primaries scheduled to hold on 21st May, 2022.

“Unfortunately for my detractors I am a divine Pan Delta project and the only choice of the people. By God’s grace I shall defeat them at the party primaries and emerge as governor in 2023.

“I am thanking God today, and will continue to thank Him for the rest of my life, for making it possible for me to serve my constituents. I am the longest serving speaker since the creation of Delta State. I have held the position for five years and still counting. To God be the glory.

“I am here to also thank God Almighty in advance for my total victory, because I know by faith that come May 29, 2023, I shall be sworn in as the elected Executive Governor of Delta State. I claim it by faith and I know for sure that God will perfect it. The signs are there and he gave me quality men and women to make it happen. Thank you Jesus.

“Our amiable governor who is also my leader and my mentor, His Excellency, the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, is a gift to us as a people, and his monumental achievements from 2015 till date and still counting, is worthy of commendation.

“I promise to build on Okowa’s legacies and advance Delta’s socioeconomic and infrastructure development as encapsulated in my M.O.R.E agenda. If elected, my administration will partner with the Church in multifaceted ways to keep the fire of Government House altar burning for God.

“I humbly appeal to spiritual leaders and Christians in the state to continue to support and pray for our governor, as he intensifies efforts to finish strong,” Elder Francis Oborevwori said.
