President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Ibrahim Gusau has confirmed that Nigerians will decide the fate of Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro.

Peseiro succeeded Austin Eguavoen as coach of Super Eagles after Nigeria’s abysmal outing at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon where they exited the tournament in the round of 16.

The Portuguese coach was tasked to lead the three-time African champions to qualify for AFCON 2023 which he achieved with a game to spare a week ago.

Peseiro’s fate is unknown as the tournament in Ivory Coast approaches, with NFF chief Gusau disclosing that football fans have the opportunity to determine the coach’s future with their reviews.

Since his appointment in May 2022, Peseiro has a record of four wins and six losses in 10 matches.

He started his work with Nigeria with back-to-back defeats to Mexico and Ecuador in friendlies.

His team bounced back with victories in their AFCON qualifiers against Sierra Leone and Sao Tome & Principe, but they collapsed again to Algeria, Costa Rica and Portugal in friendly games.

The Super Eagles started 2023 with a 1-0 home loss to Guinea-Bissau in their AFCON qualifiers but avenged the disappointing result with a 1-0 win in the reverse fixture before their recent 3-2 victory against Sierra Leone in Liberia.
